NEWS UPDATES COMING SOON....THANKS
FOR YOUR PATIENCE
01/28/08 - GH2K8
is in full swing!! Three shows into the
year, and the response to the new tunes has been EXCELLENT!! We've
added more raw power, more finesse, and more variety to give our
friends and fans a unique and high-energy show, and all we can say
is THANK YOU!! And the funny thing is, we're just getting started.
Last week was a busy one, indeed. Two shows, including a RARE
Thursday performance at the legendary Mother's on Rush and Division
in downtown Chicago. Joining us that night was HiFi Society, who put
on a killer opening set before we took the stage. Big thanks to all
the old friends and familiar faces that came out, and to the new
friends we made that night. Although it was bitterly cold outside,
you all helped make it a HOT TIME IN THE CITY!!!
Since there's no rest
for the wikked (or the HeX'd, lol) Saturday night found us cranking
it up back on the Southside at Sportstime in Bridgeview. Teddie and
his staff always treat us so well, and it's always a party!!! And
Saturday was certainly no exception. We celebrated keyboard wizard
Kurt's birthday, and even had a guest appearance by Jack Pender (My
Sacrifice), who came up and sang a little Bon Jovi with the band!!
Thanks, Jack! You ROCK!! Our
good friend Bill even came up and played some tambourine and added
backup vocals to a little James Gang, too! HUGE thanks to all
the friends, both old and new, that joined us that night! You are
awesome, and we are very grateful for your support. Check out the
pics on our Myspace page.
We'll be on the road
this weekend, heading up to Big Shotz in Kenosha, for a little
pre-Super Bowl, pre-Mardi Gras jam/party on Saturday night the 2nd.
Hope out northern IL/Wisconsin friends will come out and hang with
us. We can't wait to do the new show for y'all!!! Be sure to mark
your calendars for our return to Penny Road Pub (South Barrington)
for a headline show on Saturday, Feb. 9th with special guests
Industrial Road!
NEW CLUBS BOOKED!!!
We've been working hard at
booking the band into some cool new venues, and so far we've added
shows at Mickey Finn's Amber Room in Libertyville (March 22nd) and
the Cubby Bear North in Lincolnshire (April 26th). More big new is
coming, so please check the
Shows page for
the latest show information. Thanks for stopping by! Until next
time.....
01/13/08 - WELCOME
TO GH2K8!! The first show of the New
Year is in the books, and all we can say is....THANK YOU!!
Murphy's was the place, and the reception we received was beyond
anything we expected!!
OMG!!!! WHAT A GREAT TIME!!! We can't
express how thankful we are to everyone that came out to party with
us last night in Mokena. It was a PACKED HOUSE, and the joint was
rockin' ALL NIGHT LONG!!! So many familiar faces and even more new
ones, all partying together and showing us tons of love as we
debuted the new show for the New Year!! What an unbelievable way to
start out 2008. It was great to meet all of you and to play for you.
We are sorry we didn't have more opportunity to talk with everyone
since we only took one short break, but we took that one for the
team to make sure the festivities didn't stop!! Big props to the
management and staff of Murphy's for always making us feel so
welcome. They certainly know how to throw a party!!! Keep your eyes
peeled to the schedule...we'll be back out there later this spring
with even MORE new music and more of the Pure Rock and Roll Magic!!
Next up... the world-famous Mother's (Downtown on Rush and Division)
with special guests "HiFi Society", and a return to Sportstime in
Bridgeview (with special guests TBA). Until next time....
2007 Wrap-up - How
do you sum up a year like we've had?? Only one word comes to
mind...BLESSED! The numbers alone speak volumes...40 shows...over
5000 plays of our live videos...over 3700 plays of our audio
files...we volunteered and helped raise over $25,000 for
some VERY worthy causes...and more friends and fans than we could
have EVER imagined!!! Being selected as The July "Band of the
Month" on Chicagosrock.com.
Finalists in three categories in the Suburban Nitelife "Best of the
Burbs". Blessed is an understatement!!! We were fortunate enough to
secure many new venues, played our first casino and festival shows,
and had a HELL of a good time along the way, too. Through it all,
the keynote has ALWAYS been F-U-N!! We hope we've entertained you
and given you everything you expected and more.
GenHeX would like to
thank our good friend, Pete Reno, for joining us for a number of
rocking shows this year!! We wish him nothing but the best in all
his aspirations and undertakings. We'd especially like to
acknowledge our amazing crew, Mike Kerrigan and Art Simoni, without
whom we'd NEVER get anything done!!! They make us look and sound our
best, and we couldn't do this without them! You guys ROCK!!! And our
biggest heartfelt thanks go out to each and every one of you that
have come out, supported us, and helped spread the word on the "Pure
Rock and Roll Magic"!! Without you, there would be no GenHeX. We
never forget that!!!
We've been working
VERY hard putting together our all-new GH2K8 show, set to debut
Saturday, January 12th at Murphy's in Mokena. Whether you've been to
a show or not....you won't believe your eyes and ears. This is
GenHeX like you've NEVER seen before!!! Wishing you all a very
healthy, happy and prosperous New Year!!
12/10/07 - We
are SO sorry for the delay in updating this section, but there has
been SO MUCH going on it's been almost overwhelming!! We hope you
all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Since the last update we
have: played EIGHT killer shows; welcomed our original keyboardist
KURT BIRKELAND back into the band; booked some great new shows for
2008, including a rare Thursday headline show at the historic
MOTHER'S on Rush and Division; and started putting together our
ALL-NEW GH2K8 show, featuring some of the most distinctive and
crowd-pleasing material ever recorded, including some killer modern
rock from the likes of Hinder, Daughtry, Alice In Chains, and
Nickelback, to classics from Rainbow, Whitesnake, Alan Parsons, Led
Zeppelin, Black Crowes, and MUCH MORE!!! Everything from
million-sellers to some rare deep cuts. If you think you've seen
GenHeX, YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHING YET!!
It certainly
has been quite a year for the band so far, and it looks like it will
be winding out on a VERY high note!! WE owe BIG thanks and MUCH LOVE
to all the wonderful new friends and fans we've made, the great
venues that have allowed us to come in and rock hard for them, and
to all our diehard family and old friends that have supported us
every step of the way. Special thanks goes out to our good friend
and unofficial fifth man, PETE RENO, for rocking out with us this
year as well. We wish him MUCH continued success with his band,
Funhouse, and all the other projects to which he lends his keyboard
expertise. Our last two shows of the year will be at Sportstime in
Bridgeview (Dec. 15th) and Big Shotz, in Kenosha, WI (Dec. 22nd).
Wishing you all a blessed and magical holiday season. Our next
installment will be the annual wrap-up. So, until next time.....
10/08/07 - Happy
fall, oh HeX'd ones!! It's been an exciting few weeks for us.
Friday, September 28th, found us playing our first show in the
Sports Bar at 115 Bourbon
Street. Even though we've done four benefit shows in the
Performance Hall to date, this was actually our first booked show,
and it TOTALLY ROCKED!! To make the night even more special, we were
celebrating TWO band birthdays (Steady Eddie and Jimisix). A large,
enthusiastic crowd of old friends and new fans gave us a very warm
reception all night long, and we gave them a greatest hits show no
one will soon forget. The dance floor was packed, people were even
dancing on stage, and everyone made it a night to remember!! Many
thanks to everyone that came out to party with us, and to the great
folks at Bourbon Street for treating us to such wonderful
hospitality!!! (Be sure to check out our
Myspace page for
pics from the show....and if you're not our Myspace friend
already.....send a request!!)
The
following Saturday, GenHeX was proud to perform at our own Jimisix'
High School Reunion (H.L. Richards, H.S., Oak Lawn, IL). This
private event was held at Gaelic Park in Oak Forest, and was a GREAT
time!!! Joined for the second show in a row by our good friend Pete
Reno on keyboards, we treated the alumni to a veritable history of
rock and roll, including plenty of music from their high school
years. It was truly a night of great friends, great memories, and
great music. Our sincere thanks to the Reunion committee and all the
attendees for the excellent reception we received!!! We definitely
made some new band friends that night, and look forward to seeing
you at future shows!!! All in all...one HELL of a way to head into
fall! We're off the weekend of Oct. 12/13, but we'll be heading back
out to Hot Shots in Warrenville on Saturday, October 20th, to bring
the "Pure Rock and Roll Magic" to the western 'burbs for a rockin'
Sweetest Day!! Hope to see you there. We also have two very special
shows on Halloween weekend (Friday, Oct. 26th at
Papa T's in Midlothian, and
Saturday, Oct. 27th at
Jersey's in Hoffman Estates). And remember, new shows are being
booked all the time, so keep your eyes on our
"Shows" page
for the latest info!! Until next time....
